The amount of light that reaches deeper layers can vary depending on hair, scalp, skull structure, light dose, and placement. This is why wavelength, irradiance, placement, and session duration are important in Brainlume’s design.

What is Monte Carlo light modeling, and why does it matter?

Monte Carlo light modeling is a simulation method used to estimate how light may scatter, absorb, and distribute through layered biological tissues.

In simple terms, researchers can create a digital head model and simulate large numbers of virtual photons to better understand potential light-distribution patterns. This helps guide design choices such as light placement, power, dose, and overall light-delivery layout.

Why might I not feel anything during a session?

Brainlume is designed for low-sensation, non-thermal daily use. You may not feel heat, vibration, or an obvious physical sensation during a session.

How often can I use Brainlume, and can I use both modes in one day?

4. What to Expect

What should I expect, and how soon might I notice a difference?

Brainlume is designed to support daily routines around wind-down, recovery, and focus-oriented reset moments.

Some users may notice a calmer evening routine, easier transition into rest, clearer daily recharge, or a better reset after screen-heavy work. Others may notice changes more gradually through repeated use.

For many wellness routines, consistency matters. We recommend using Brainlume regularly for at least 1–2 weeks before judging how it fits your routine.

Can Brainlume help with wind-down, focus, or screen-heavy workdays?

Brainlume is designed for these everyday use cases.

Night Mode can be used before bed as a calming wind-down ritual. Day Mode can be used before work, studying, reading, planning, or creative tasks. Brainlume can also fit after long periods of screen time, meetings, or mentally demanding work as a quiet 20-minute reset moment.

Yes. Brainlume is non-invasive and does not require nasal insertion.

Unlike devices that use a nasal light applicator, Brainlume uses a head-worn light-delivery design with no component placed inside the nose. This makes the experience more comfortable, more natural, and easier to repeat consistently for daily use.

Can I see the light, and should I protect my eyes?

Near-infrared light is mostly outside the visible light range, so it may appear very dim or not clearly visible to the human eye.

Even if the light does not look bright, do not stare directly at the light source for extended periods. Near-infrared light may still irritate the eyes when viewed directly. Many users prefer to relax, read, journal, or sit quietly during a session.
