Clinical Medicine
Human-centered foundation for brain care.
Brain health is deeply personal to me.
I did not start Brainlume as a consumer electronics project.
I started it as a daughter, a scientist, and someone who has spent years thinking about what happens to the brain as we age.
My journey began with a deeply personal experience: I am the daughter of a parent with Alzheimer’s disease. That experience forced me to ask a question I could not ignore — if brain health can decline silently over years, why do we wait until problems become severe before we begin to care for it?
Brainlume grew from that question. It is my attempt to translate years of medical research, CNS drug development, and light-based brain wellness science into something people can use earlier, more gently, and more consistently in daily life.
Founder Background
Before founding Brainlume, Jie Fu, PhD, built her career across clinical medicine, pharmacology, genetics, CNS research, and advanced drug development.
Her work has spanned small-molecule drugs, protein therapeutics, nucleic acid drugs, peptides, antibodies, and cell therapy programs. She has published 30+ SCI papers, holds 8 granted patents, and has led or participated in more than 10 national and provincial research projects.
That background shaped Brainlume’s direction: not to create another short-term wellness gadget, but to translate serious biomedical research into a practical, non-invasive technology for daily brain wellness.

Light-Based Brain Wellness
The brain is one of the body’s most energy-demanding organs. In brain wellness research, light-based approaches such as transcranial photobiomodulation have attracted attention because they connect with questions around cellular energy, neural rhythms, and non-invasive brain support.
For Brainlume, the opportunity was not simply to use light. It was to translate a complex research direction into a wearable experience that feels gentle, practical, and sustainable for daily life.
That is why Brainlume is built around near-infrared light, non-invasive delivery, and two rhythm-based modes designed for everyday focus, relaxation, and wind-down routines.
Built around science-informed light parameters.
Designed as a wearable experience for daily routines.
Created for moments of focus, relaxation, and wind-down.
Wellness-Focused Science
Brainlume is built through a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together research, clinical insight, neurotechnology, and engineering to translate light-based brain wellness research into a practical daily-use product.
Connects biomedical research, tPBM strategy, study design, and evidence planning with product direction.
Brings neurology, cognitive health, mental wellness, and real-world recovery needs into product thinking.
Supports brain-signal, qEEG, neurofeedback, biofeedback, BCI, and rhythm-based design perspectives.
Guides optical, mechanical, material, manufacturing, and industrialization decisions for wearable product development.
Together, these perspectives help Brainlume move from complex brain wellness research toward a wearable technology designed for real daily life.
